We start off our Rainbows and Unicorns party by welcoming the children to our fabulous birthday celebration and letting them know that as well as taking part in some super fun party games we will also be joining the unicorns on an exciting adventure. Every 1000 years the naughty dragons wake up from a deep sleep and try to steal everything in the world that is beautiful and shiny, and the unicorns are the only ones who can stop them!
In order to help, we transform ourselves into honorary unicorns by putting on some tattoos, stickers, face paint and a unicorn headband before starting our first game. ‘Buttercup Bumps’ is like musical bumps but we play it while creating rainbows – a very important unicorn task! The little unicorns dance around with our magic rainbow scarves and put lots of rainbows in the sky so there are far too many for the dragons to steal.
We then need to check the level of love in the room to make sure there is enough to make some real powerful rainbow magic. The little unicorns sort our magic love measurement balls and we put all of the red and pink ones into our loveometer, which of course reaches level 10. This means our magic wands can be charged with full strength rainbow magic so we’re prepared in case we need it later. The little unicorns will know that their wands are full of magic as packets of sweets will fall from the sky at the end of their spell!
At this point we practice our leaping skills so we’re prepared in case we see the dragons and they try to knock us over with their tails and we use our magic rainbow ribbons to surround ourselves with a protective force field to shield us when the dragons breathe fire! We’re then ready for our journey over mountains, through rivers and across the sky as we climb, swim and flap our unicorn wings towards the dragon’s cave!
A baby dragon awaits us at the entrance to the cave and we decide to play a game with him to tire him out so we can sneak past unchallenged. Rainbow Run Round involves passing the baby dragon round the circle and when the music stops, choosing a unicorn on the opposite side to chase back to their space.
We then enter the dragon’s cave where we discover the dragons have been stealing all of the stars from the sky! We prepare to steal them back while a lovely grownup volunteer will put on our dragon costume and stand between the stars and our star rescue basket! Being the bravest unicorns ever, we sneak past him and steal all of the stars back, but the dragon refuses to give up and keeps throwing them back into the room. Of course, the unicorns win and the dragon goes deep underground to find more dragons to help him. We grab our magic wands and with a rainbow magic spell, put the dragons back to sleep, sealed in their cave for another 1000 years!
Victorious, we head back to the Unicorn Castle where we sit down to do pass the parcel and the little unicorns receive a piece of unicorn jewellery, a treat and an invitation from the Unicorn King to join their family as an official Prince or Princess Unicorn! The invitation reveals the start of their official unicorn name and they then head over to the table where they pick two cards with the middle and last parts of their unicorn name on! We complete an Honorary Unicorn Certificate and announce them as official Prince or Princess Unicorns with their full unique unicorn names!
We finish off our celebrations with a snow spell which creates snowballs and some real snow and then we sit down in front of our beautiful themed background for group photos and to sing Happy Birthday to the special birthday girl or boy! After this we do individual and family photos for each little unicorn and if added, they can make their very own magic potion which will allow them to create love, joy and happiness whenever they want by turning them twice and saying “I believe in Unicorn Magic”!
All children love making potions and the potion add on for this party is so pretty! The children add their choice of sparkle dust, magic reflection symbols, colourful river rocks and potion tint to the raindrops in their vial before topping it off with amber nectar and sealing the jar forever. They can then use their potion to create lots of love, joy and happiness whenever they want by turning the potion twice slowly and saying “I believe in Unicorn Magic”!
Our rainbows and unicorn party backdrop helps create the prettiest pictures and is the most magical setting for the party, as well as individual and group photographs! We have a fluffy rainbow cloud to sit on, lots of pretty flowers, rainbows galore and some of the most magical unicorn decor, plus our real unicorn named Neigh-omi Diamond, who looks so grand! All of our parties include a free photoshoot and we make sure we get lots of pics of the birthday girl or boy in front of this magical backdrop as well as family photos, individual photos of the guests and their grownups if wanted and group photos to remember the day!
One of our favourite parts of this party is when the children get to find out what their honorary unicorn name is! As part of the pass the parcel the children will receive a unicorn peg (along with their unicorn jewellery and treat) with the beginning of their honorary unicorn name on. They will then go to the ‘find out your unicorn name’ table where they will pick two cards with their new middle and last names on. When we have all three parts of their new honorary unicorn name it will be written on a certificate and they will be announced to the room with their new honorary unicorn name! Examples include Princess Sparkle Pearl, Brave Rainbow Wings, Raspberry Sugar Sky and Goldie Sugar Delight! The children will love taking their certificate home and putting it in a special place so they remember the fun they had at the party and their special new name.
Our children’s parties really do make dreams come true. We sow the seed for imaginative play and creative learning that continues long after the party. Themed information is weaved into the content of each party by our children’s party entertainers to tease little minds into exploring the topic further and also to encourage positive behaviour such as kindness, curiosity and care for the planet.
